Mason running to succeed Morrison as Cook County Board’s 15th District commissioner

Ted Mason, the Democratic Committeeman of Elk Grove Township and chief of staff for 15th District Cook County Board Commissioner Kevin Morrison, has announced his candidacy to succeed Morrison next year.

“Having served as chief of staff to Commissioner Kevin Morrison for over six years, I am excited to continue the work of expanding access to mental health care, bringing resources to our small businesses in the northwest suburbs, and providing Cook County with balanced budgets,” Mason said in a statement.

Mason’s announcement follows the start of Morrison’s campaign for the 8th Congressional District seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi. That Democratic primary already includes Hanover Park Trustee Yasmeen Bankole and Des Plaines business executive Sanjyot Dunung.

Mason lives with his wife and four children in Elk Grove Village. He has also served as director of outreach for Krishnamoorthi and as chief of staff for former State Sen. Toi Hutchinson.
