A committed servant leader for mayor
I know both mayoral candidates in the Mount Prospect race and like both of them personally. I think I’m quoting Trisha when she said, “It’s nice to have two candidates that love their community.” In reply to Fay Costa’s view from the March 21 issue, I find it disconcerting that she believes Paul Hoefert lacks values over one specific issue. Paul stated that he lets the police do their job. The police did their job, investigated thoroughly, and ultimately the responsible parties were charged with a hate crime.
The village is in a time of “great prosperity” that cannot be denied. Growth and development is at an all-time high. We have seven new restaurants and six new residential buildings in our downtown. New industrial and commercial developments are being built in South Mount Prospect. New retailers, new service businesses, new restaurants have come to Randhurst Village.
Because of the growth, the village’s portion of our tax levy is down 11%. Vehicle stickers have been permanently eliminated. Major flood control projects have been completed in Northeast Mount Prospect eliminating the need for flood insurance. An interconnect was built to another Lake Michigan water source providing an emergency backup water supply. An Emergency Financial Fund was created and funded with $13.7 million to protect against financial risk. Government has been “taken to the people” with 12 Village Board meetings in our neighborhoods.
We have a new South Mount Prospect Fire Station improving response times. Public safety has improved through hiring eight new police officers and eight new firefighter/paramedics.
Mayor Hoefert is a “servant leader” who serves simply to make Mount Prospect a better place to live, work and raise a family. Now is the time to build on the incredible successes of the past four years with Paul Hoefert as village president.
