Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?

To be a voice for the students, parents and community. To ensure that every student gets the education that they deserve

What is the role of the school board in setting and monitoring the curriculum?

To influence curriculum development by setting educational policies that guide what is taught in schools. School board approves curriculum frameworks and instructional materials, ensuring they align with state standards and community values.

Are there curriculum issues within the district that you feel need particular attention from the board?

Reading levels k-5 is concerning. All k-4 students should be reading at grade level or higher.

How do you view your role in confronting policy or curriculum controversies: provide leadership even if unpopular, give a voice to constituents — even ones with whom you disagree, or defer to state authorities?

It is my role to confront policies and curriculum that don't align with student learning. My decision doesn't need to be popular but fair and consistent and to remain transparent.

Describe your experience working in a group setting to determine policy. What is your style in such a setting to reach an agreement and manage school district policy? Explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions for your school board.

My leadership style consist of transformational leadership. I look to motivate and inspire others to achieve greatness. I create an environment for personal growth and development. I demonstrate active listening to ensure all board members point of views are heard. Using this style of leadership will foster an environment for success.

What is your assessment of the school district's diversity and equity efforts? Do you support the continuation or enhancement of such programs, of would you rather see them diminished. Please explain your reasoning.

District 300 is actively trying to foster an environment for diversity and equity. They are actively recruiting individuals with diverse backgrounds as well as educational requirements. This process was demonstrating with selecting an African American superintendent.

What makes you the best candidate for the job?

I care about the students, parents and community of District 300. I want every student to achieve at high levels. I'm believe in holding the superintendent accountable for District 300 success.

What’s one good idea you have to better your district that no one is talking about yet?

Challenging the state curriculum to ensure that it aligns with student needs. Understanding that every student learns differently and just using textbook curriculum doesn’t work.
