Historian brings Black history to life through song in Glen Ellyn Feb. 8

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society will be celebrating Black History Month with historian and singer Clarence Goodman in his musical presentation, “An Unfinished Journey: African Music in its Pivotal Decades.”

The program will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St. Goodman performs and discusses songs from pivotal moments in African American history: slavery, Jim Crow, the civil rights movement, and beyond. Listen to the music then hear the history behind the songs.

Admission is $10 or free for youth and Glen Ellyn Historical Society members. For information, call (630) 469-1867 or visit the website, www.gehs.org.

Free parking is available at the history center, behind Stacy's Tavern Museum, and on surrounding lots and streets. The history center is wheelchair accessible and has wheelchair-accessible restrooms.
