Move to Rosemont makes Chicago Boat Show more convenient for suburbanites to get to
The fishing shows are just around the corner, Of course, it will be spring shortly thereafter, so visiting a show or two is a great way to pass the time, especially if you don’t ice fish.
The Chicago Boat Show arrives at its new location, the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Jan. 8-12. This is truly a show for dreamers as the show features some of the most incredible watercraft you could possibly imagine owning.
There has been much debate about whether or not his show should be moved from its longtime home at McCormick Place. Now we will finally see if it is the right move. Personally, I think it will work out because the McCormick site was too hard to get to and the parking was exorbitant. I’m willing to give it a visit. For info, visit www.chicagoboatshow.com.
The Tinley Park Fishing, Travel and Outdoor Expo is back at the Tinley Park Convention Center on Jan. 10-12. This show grew from a small show that was based at the local high school and was operated for charity. It has grown past its roots but still has a small-town feel that can’t be matched.
There is so much to see and do here, it is hard to explain. This is a true family show and has attractions that will appeal to everybody. There are plenty of exhibitors who sell endless amounts of tackle and supply, so don’t forget your plastic.
The Tinley Park show has a seminar lineup that is top flight. The stage is constantly manned by the best speakers who talk about local waterways in the area. If you want to know how and where to catch fish, the Tinley Park show’s seminar stage is the place to camp out at for the entire run of the show.
Tinley Park is easier to get through than you’d think. I recommend this show highly. For more info, please go to www.tinleyfishexpo.com.
Jan. 17-19 are the dates for the big Muskie Expo Chicago at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles. This show has everything there is to do with the world of muskie fishing.
I don’t want to hear any complaints from folks complaining that there wasn’t enough about other kinds of fishing. It’s a muskie show — period. This group does a good job putting together a very good show and the Fairgrounds is a good location. I wouldn’t miss this show. For info, visit www.muskieexpo.com/Chicago.
The Chicagoland Fishing Expo is at the Schaumburg Convention Center Jan. 23-26. This is the big show. It’s the one that has its roots back at the International Amphitheater that featured movie cowboy John Bromfield and Victor the Wrestling Bear taking on any and all comers.
Well, Schaumburg doesn’t have any cowboys or bears, but I can’t imagine anything else that would be absent that would be of interest to fishermen. The seminar speaker lineup has not been announced yet, but I am certain that it will feature some of the top stars in the world of fishing. They always do.
I don’t know how a person can see everything that this show has to offer in just one day. Personally, I’ll be walking the halls of Schaumburg for three of the days, so if you see me, please say hello. For more info, please access www.chicagoland.sportshows.com/
More shows and attractions are coming and I will list them for you next week.
