Electoral board removes two filed Streamwood trustee candidates from ballot

The Streamwood electoral board has removed two challengers from the village trustee race based on objections to their nominating petitions, making the April 1 election for that office uncontested for now.

But both Tarang Gandhi and Harshadkumar Chhatulal Shah can appeal in the next five days or pursue a write-in candidacy.

Gandhi was removed for having no specific office indicated on his petition sheets, while Shah had fewer signatures than required following a check with Cook County, according to the electoral board.

On the ballot for the three available trustee seats are incumbents Michael Baumer, Rezwanul Haque and Jovandi Bermudez.

A contested race for Streamwood village president remains, with Poplar Creek Public Library District Trustee Asad Khan challenging incumbent Billie Roth’s bid for a 10th term.
