Two teens charged in Woodridge robbery

Two teenagers are accused of robbing a person at a Woodridge park after arranging to buy AirPods and other items from them, officials said.

Jordan Jones, 18, of Oswego, is charged with armed robbery and fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer. DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden Tuesday ordered Jones be detained while awaiting trial.

A 16-year-old boy is charged with armed robbery and aggravated robbery. Judge Demetrios Panoushis ordered he be detained until at least his next court appearance.

Woodridge police were called just after 5 p.m. Sunday for a report of a robbery at Castaldo Park, 3024 71st St. A person said they had arranged over social media to meet buyers and sell them Apple AirPods and two hooded Spider sweatshirts for $495, but two men stole them.

When they met, one of he men pressed a gun — now believed to be a BB gun — to his ribcage, authorities said.

Afterward, the complainant followed the men to 71st and Janeswood Drive while talking to police. Officers located the suspect vehicle but lost sight of it after its driver fled at a high speed, authorities said.

Police later located the SUV and placed Jones under arrest, officials said. The juvenile turned himself in Monday.

Jones’ next court date is Dec. 16. The juvenile is scheduled back in court Dec. 5.
