Harper College Police Department participates in Faith & Blue event

The Harper College Police Department, in conjunction with Harper’s Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and St. John United Church of Christ in Palatine, recently partnered to benefit the Harper community. Officers, CRU students and church representatives together invited the Harper campus to make no-sew fleece blankets for individuals with cancer and enjoy refreshments. The event took place on Oct. 11, at Palatine Park District’s Plum Grove Reservoir, adjacent to Harper’s main campus in Palatine.

The national Faith & Blue organization was launched to facilitate safer, stronger, more just and unified communities by directly enabling local partnerships among law enforcement professionals, residents, businesses and community groups through the connections of local faith-based organizations. The initiative aims to recalibrate police-community relations through solutions-focused activities that are organized jointly by faith-based or other community groups and law enforcement agencies.

“The Faith & Blue movement, which is supported by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, is a wonderful opportunity in facilitating a productive engagement with law enforcement and a faith organization,” Harper Chief of Police John Lawson said. “Working together on this community service project benefited the Harper students and the Harper community.”
