One resident injured, dog dies in Addison house fire
A woman was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation and a dog died after a house fire in Addison early Tuesday morning.
No other injuries were reported from the blaze that was reported at about 6:30 a.m. on the 100 block of East Comstock Avenue.
Six other residents of the home escaped injury, fire officials said. The injured woman’s condition was unknown.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire showing from a bedroom of the single-story, single-family home. It took nearly 15 minutes to bring it under control.
Firefighters remained on scene for more than an hour checking for hot spots and performing salvage operations.
Fire officials said there were no working smoke detectors inside the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The fire caused an estimated $200,000 in damage and left the home uninhabitable.
