Police: Man was driving drunk, left scene of crash

A 26-year-old Streamwood man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash after being arrested Friday by Bartlett police.

Marco A. Muneton, 26 was also cited for improper lane use, failure to reduce speed, and operating an uninsured vehicle.

At about 10:15 p.m. Friday, Bartlett police responded to a crash near the intersection of Lake Street and North Bartlett Road. Witnesses reported the driver believed responsible for the crash had fled.

A person matching the description of that driver, identified as Muneton, was found and taken into custody by Bartlett officers near the intersection of Lake Street and Illinois Route 59.

Police said Muneton was driving a 2018 Honda Accord west on Lake Street when his vehicle crashed head-on into a 2012 Hyundai Genesis in the eastbound left turn lane of Lake Street waiting to turn left onto North Bartlett Road.

The impact of the crash reportedly caused the Genesis to collide with a 2021 Toyota Corolla, also in the eastbound left turn lane.

Muneton was granted pretrial release with a court date of Oct. 28 at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
