CAGGNI to host Genealogy Conference on Sept. 14
The Computer Assisted Genealogy Group of Northern Illinois is preparing for the organization’s sixth biennial conference, Where the Past Meets the Future, on Sept. 14, at the Wojcik Conference Center at Harper College, Palatine.
The in-person, one-day GeneaQuest conference will feature three tracks and eight speakers — 12 topics in all.
The tracks include Exploring Genealogy, which covers more basic topics; Technical Genealogy, including sessions on artificial intelligence and DNA, and finally Digging Deeper, which features sessions on records research, including land, probate and immigration.
Under the Exploring Genealogy track, Liz Ross will be presenting Exploring Genealogy Part One and Park Two. Steve Szabados will present DNA Simplified, and Laura Chaplin will speak on Collateral & Cluster People.
In the Technical Genealogy track, Eric Vavra will speak on Al & Genealogy: The Evolving Role of Artificial Intelligence in Genealogy. Steve Szabados will present Finding my Biological Father: a DNA and Genealogy Case Study. Tina Beaird will discuss Pins and Needles: Adding Social Media to Your Genealogy Repertoire, and Michelle Wilson will present We're All Related! Searching for our Most Recent Common Ancestor.
Under the Digging Deeper track, Caron Brennan will discuss Finding Your European Roots, while Laura Chaplin will speak on Probing for Probate: Researching in the Probate Court. Jenny Warner will present two topics, Immigration and Emigration, and Exploring Land Records.

Cost for the conference is $75 for members and $85 for nonmembers. A box lunch is included. In addition, there will be a complete syllabus sent to all registrants and access for one month to all recorded presentations.
