Fortune cites West Chicago in ‘Best Places’ survey

In its 2024 survey of “Best Places to Live for Families,” Fortune named West Chicago No. 20 in the nation.

Fortune analyzed more than 2,000 cities of 20,000 people or more and said its picks are the best places to live in each of the 50 states. West Chicago was ranked No. 9 in Fortune’s inaugural survey in 2022.

The survey considered nearly 200 data categories, primarily in education, resources for aging adults, general wellness, financial health and “livability.” It emphasized places that were relatively affordable and offered diverse neighborhoods.

Along with such aspects as West Chicago’s racial and ethnic makeup and “well-being index,” Fortune noted the city’s abundant festivals, green spaces and its Healthy West Chicago program to increase nutrition and physical activity.
