Groundbreaking Wednesday for inclusive Mundelein park
The public is invited to a groundbreaking ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for an inclusive park project at Kracklauer Park, 100 N. Seymour Ave. in Mundelein.
An inclusive playground is an open, safe space designed to promote play among children of differing abilities, ages and communities, giving those with and without disabilities the same platform to play and breakdown physical and social barriers.
Ron Salski, executive director of the Mundelein Park & Recreation District, and park board members will discuss the project, which includes accessible amenities such as boccia courts, a fishing station and a pollinator garden. Renderings of the park’s layout and features also will be on display.
