One person hurt in Vernon Hills house fire

One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital after a Wednesday morning house fire in Vernon Hills.

Firefighters were called to the two-story, single-family home on the 400 block of Cherry Valley Road at about 6 a.m. and reported “heavy smoke showing” from the exterior of the home and in the garage.

The home was deemed uninhabitable. No damage estimate was available.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
