Batavia starts Wednesday night farmers market

Didn’t make it to the Batavia Farmers Market last Saturday? Starting Wednesday, you can shop at a smaller version.

From 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays through Aug. 28, about 20 vendors will set up on North River Street, between State and Wilson streets.

Vendors signed up to participate include Gather Bakery, Blue Stand Cookie Co., Torte di Paola, Great Baked Pies, Flat Tire Farms, Garlic Breath Farm, Mighty Greens Farm, Red Flower Organics and Fae Forest Fungi.

The nearby Batavia Boardwalk Shops will be open, and several other downtown Batavia shops will extend their hours, according to a news release from Batavia MainStreet.

Vendor spots are still available for the Wednesday markets. The application is on downtownbatavia.com. Vendors must grow, harvest or produce at least 75% of the products they sell.

The market accepts Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits. Shoppers can double their SNAP dollars with LINK Match, a dollar-for-dollar match for the purchase of fresh local fruits and vegetables. Link Match is sponsored by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program.

The Saturday market runs from 8 a.m. to noon through Saturday.

A list of each week’s vendors is available on the Batavia Farmers’ Market Facebook and Instagram pages.
