Grayslake Central’s Basierak commits to Dubuque
Grayslake Central volleyball standout Klaudia Basierak has committed to continue her volleyball career at the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa.
A three-year varsity captain, Basierak led her team to the sectional finals in 2010 and to the program’s first back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2010 and 2011. She also broke the school record for kills in a career with 801, and during her junior year broke the record for kills in a season with 320.
Basierak was an All-Fox Valley Conference and Daily Herald All-Area selection during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She received all-state honorable mention honors as a junior.
“Klaudia played a pivotal role in transforming our program into the successful program it is today,” Rams coach Jason Janczak said. “She is an exceptional leader within our program, and her energy and ability set the standards for future generations of Rams volleyball players to aim for. We were fortunate enough to have her in our program and she will be missed, but I am sure she will have a successful career the University of Dubuque. She is the kind of player that all coaches want to have on their team, and I am sure she will help lead the University of Dubuque to quite a few successful seasons.”
