Two Lake County men arrested in Fox Lake apartment break-in

Two Lake County men are behind bars after breaking into a Fox Lake apartment and beating and robbing the residents, police said Monday.

Casey Staral, 22, of Round Lake, and Joshawa Andre, 23, of Lake Villa, forced their way past the victims and into an apartment in the 100 block of Forest Avenue at 8:39 a.m. on April 7, Fox Lake Police Lt. Mark Schindler said.

Once inside, they beat a male victim when he attempted to contact police, Schindler said, and the female victim was restrained when she tried to flee.

Staral and Andre are accused of stealing $600 and a cellphone from the male victim, Schindler said. The victims phoned the police after the two men fled the scene.

Following a lengthy investigation, Staral and Andre were arrested on an outstanding warrant by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Schindler said. The victims used a photo lineup to identify the suspects, police said.

Andre and Staral are held in Lake County jail in lieu of $250,000 bond, Schindler said. They have been charged with multiple felony counts of home invasion, aggravated robbery, residential burglary, felony theft, aggravated battery and criminal trespass.

Staral is due to be arraigned in court Tuesday, Schindler said, while Andre will appear in front of a judge Thursday.
