I am a where of the problems and push to get them addressed in a timely manor I also am a full time employee at a neighboring municipality for the past 12. So I have a good understanding of how the budgeting process works and what our town needs to plan for in the future. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Unfortunately I feel that this is a trick question taxes are always to high however the price of labor and materials fuel and so on continues to climb. With that said you do the best you can with what you have.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I am very pleased with our police and fire services although our village has no control over the fire district they do a great job and are a valuable asset to have inside our corporate limits. Other then making sure we have enough staff to provide a safe working environment for our employees and residents I believe nothing should change in the services we provide at this time. Some would like to contract these services out to the sheriffs department but this would be a costly endeavor as there is no way to guarantee the price of a contract in the future and it has been tried in the past in other communities and has failed. If this does come up it should goto the people for a vote. With that said now is a great time to plan for the future as the population of our town will continue to grow. I would like to see a lot more community involvement in our police department by expanding programs that encourage people to take care of them selves if some kind of a disaster were to happen in the village as our response could be delayed due to our limited accesses points to various parts of town and limited resources.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I believe that we could cut down on our admin staff it seems we have more chiefs then Indians. I would rather some of those jobs reduced to part time or combined. I would also like to see our parks and buildings cleaned up, it seems that months go buy with little or no general maintenance done often leaving a poor or dirty impression to people that are visiting or would like to do business with our village. What's one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I am eager to discuss plans for our down town that is badly out dated. We recently received a grant to update the lights side walks and so on.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? The village really needs start working on it disaster plans. To date there are none and staff does not seem to be concerned about them. Not having such plans put the village at disadvantage because it make us ineligible for certain funding. This discussion has come up several times but staff has never followed through on it.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.No single leader comes to mind. What's the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?IF you need help in life it is ok ask for help.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would have bought a Florida house when the market was down. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Food class I love to BBQ.....If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Treat people as you would want to be treated.
