Mundelein-Vernon Hills Rotary awards $20,000 in scholarships

The Rotary Club of Mundelein-Vernon Hills recently awarded $20,000 in scholarships to area college-bound students. Scholarships were awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service and financial need.

"I congratulate these students on their academic achievements and their dedication to making our communities a better place," said Brian Olson, the club's scholarship chair. "Each of these talented students embodies Rotary's motto of 'Service Above Self.'"

The 2021 scholarship recipients are:

• Kadra Balla, Mundelein High School

• Zoe Haith, Mundelein High School

• Chaemin Kim, Vernon Hills High School

• Jennifer Lopez, Mundelein High School

• Abhishek Murli, Vernon Hills High School

• Cheyenne Pellettiere, Mundelein High School

• Riya Ravi Verma, Vernon Hills High School

The club has awarded nearly $270,000 in academic scholarships over the past 11 years to area students.

The Rotary Club of Mundelein-Vernon Hills is one of 34,000 Rotary clubs around the world and consists of action-oriented business, professional and community leaders who support important social causes in Lake County and around the world.
