Fire guts garage, leaves home unliveable near Fox Lake
A garage fire that spread to a home near Fox Lake has temporarily displaced its residents, authorities said Saturday.
The residents, who were planning to move, weren't home when a neighbor called 911 about 1:30 p.m. Saturday to report the garage on fire, said Ed Lescher, battalion chief of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage on the 34000 block of Iroquois Trail in Ingleside.
"Most of the fire damage was contained to garage," Lescher said.
But water and smoke damage left the home uninhabitable, he said. The estimated cost of the damage was not immediately available.
No injuries were reported; the cause is under investigation.
