Tooth Wizard battles PlaqueMan at Des Plaines school for the health of kids' teeth

Students watched Tooth Wizard battle his archenemy PlaqueMan in a battle for the health of kids' teeth during a lesson Thursday at Brentwood Elementary School in Des Plaines.

The two costumed characters demonstrated how to brush and floss teeth using an oversized mouth and toothbrush during the "Land of Smiles" program put on by the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation.

"We're hoping to help decrease the number of young children with cavities by teaching them the importance of good oral health and how to take care of their teeth at an early age," Lora Vitek, director of philanthropy and community relations, said in a news release.

Tooth Wizard and PlaqueMan are expected to do battle again Friday at Forest View Elementary School in Mount Prospect.
