Bolingbrook youth, age 15, earns Eagle Scout rank

Christopher Welsh, a 15 year old home-schooled resident of Bolingbrook, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. This accomplishment represents almost 4 years of adventure, fun, work, and dedication to the Boy Scout troop for Welsh, a member of Troop 13 in Plainfield.

During the process of satisfying the requirements for the Eagle rank, Welsh has performed community service, provided service and leadership for his troop, and is currently serving as Den Chief and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader for his troop.

In addition to the traditional outdoor skills learned in Boy Scouts, Welsh has at least 30 merit badges including those from archeryto woodworking.

His Eagle project was to organize and coordinate the building of an advertising sign for Ready Set Ride Therapeutic Facility, an organization that gives horseback riding therapy to children with autism and other disabilities.

Welsh will be formally presented the Eagle Scout award at his Court of Honor ceremony at the Plainfield Fire Station on November 22nd.
