Join Sherman Hospital's Iftar dinner for Ramadan

Elgin, Ill. - As part of the celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, Advocate Sherman Hospital's Mission and Spiritual Care Department and Diversity Council invites the community to join in an Iftar Dinner from 7:45 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, June 22, in the fourth-floor conference room of the hospital's medical office building, 1425 N. Randall Road, Elgin.

Residents are invited to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan on June 22 at Advocate Sherman Hospital.

The Mission and Spiritual Care Department and Diversity Council at Advocate Sherman Hospital will host an Iftar Dinner from 7:45 to 9:30 p.m. in the fourth-floor conference room of the Medical Office Building at Sherman Hospital, 1425 N. Randall Road, Elgin.

Ramadan begins in the evening on June 17 and ends in the evening on July 17. During that time, Muslims from around the world fast from sunrise to sunset. At sunset, Muslims gather with family and friends to break the fast with prayers and a meal. The time is meant to purify the soul and serves as a practice in self-sacrifice, among other things.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about and celebrate the Muslim customs of Ramadan and eat an Iftar meal.
