Devils F Stephen Gionta fined for spearing

NEW YORK (AP) - New Jersey Devils forward Stephen Gionta has been fined for spearing Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki.
The league announced the $2,284.95 fine on Friday.
Gionta was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for spearing, which occurred at 18:18 of the second period in the Devils' 5-4 win on Thursday night.
Lee Stempniak tied it with 32 seconds left in regulation and added the shootout winner.
