Doug Kalitta leads Top Fuel field in NHRA Winternationals
POMONA, Calif. (AP) - Doug Kalitta led Top Fuel qualifying Friday in the season-opening NHRA Winternationals with a 3.733-second run at 327.59 mph.
"We're real happy with those two runs," Kalitta said. "I'm not sure with the weather, I think it might be a little cooler tomorrow. There's just a lot of good running cars that can run better than we did. So, hopefully I'm hearing again tomorrow talking to you guys. We'll see how it goes."
Tommy Johnson Jr. topped the Funny Car field, and Jason Line led in Pro Stock. Johnson finished in 4.018 at 314.46 in a Dodge Charger, and Line had a 6.523 at 212.76 in a Chevrolet Camaro.
