A broader truth about campaign ads
Joyce Petersen (6/23) berated trips by Obama for fundraising at taxpayer expense were different from the Rauner half-truth ads being run at Rauners' expense.
She would certainly have a point if she actually knew what she was talking about. Fundraising trips by Presidents (all of them) are paid for by whichever political party is involved. The ads for Rauner's agenda began life as a tax deduction and are clearly therefore at taxpayer expense no matter how many cabbage leaves you put on top.
It is true that perhaps the political parties are not charged enough, but that is another matter.
