88-year-old woman dies in one-car crash in Spring Grove

An 88-year-old Richmond woman died in a one-vehicle crash on North Solon Road in Spring Grove Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release by the McHenry County coroner, Ruth Brennan was driving north on North Solon Road when her car left the roadway and struck a utility pole near the intersection with Route 173.

First responders took Brennan to Centegra McHenry Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m.

The Spring Grove Police Department is investigating. Preliminary findings suggest that Brennan died from blunt force injuries to her chest and spinal cord, the coroner's office said.
