St. Isidore's annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament set for Sept. 6

The St. Isidore School and Parish parking lot and grounds will be a hot bed for basketball this weekend when the 16th annual Cyclones 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament tips off.

More than 50 teams consisting of up to 250 players are expected to participate in the tournament, which tips off at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, on 12 portable courts at the school, 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale.

Last year's event raised more than $10,000 earmarked for the school's Improvement Fund.

The tournament is open to the public, but limited to students in third through 10th grades for the 2014-15 school year, Chairman Jason Ciolino said. Teams can have up to four players.

The entry fee, $100 per team, must be submitted by 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, at the school office, 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Cash or checks are acceptable, with checks made payable to St. Isidore School.

"The 3-on-3 tournament has evolved into one of the most highly anticipated events and fundraisers of our school year," Ciolino said. "This is our 16th consecutive tournament, and to see our school and parish grounds filled with hundreds of players, spectators, food, music and fun is really something."

Teams will be grouped by age and experience into separate divisions based on entries received. The tournament committee recommends that a team's roster be made up of players of the same age and/or grade in school.

Teams must be made up of players of the same gender. All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games and will receive a free lunch from Rocco Vino's and a commemorative T-shirt. Medals will be awarded to each division's winning team.

Tournament rules are listed along with other information and entry forms on the school's website, stisidoreparishschool.org.
