SOS brings “Anything Goes” revival to Schaumburg
Schaumburg on Stage is presenting the 2011 Tony award winner for best musical revival of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes” today through Feb. 2 at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court.
With “Anything Goes,” SOS recreates the luxurious ocean liner cruises of the late 1940s with a full orchestra, glamorous costumes and showstopping, all-cast tap numbers.
Paige Brantley, 17, of Schaumburg, and Emily Miller, 16, of Schaumburg will be featured in the role of Reno Sweeney, an evangelist turned nightclub singer.
Reno helps an old love and penniless stowaway Billy Crocker, played by RJ Cecott, 20, of Hickory Hills, and Brad Wendt, 17, of South Elgin, win back his long lost love Hope Harcourt. The role of Hope is shared by Audrey Rose, 16, of Schaumburg and Kathleen Tresnowski, 17, of Inverness.
But this is no easy tap dance for Reno because Hope is engaged to a wealthy Englishman, Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, played by Stefano Egleston, 16, of Inverness and Connor Murray, 15, of Bartlett. It’s a bumpy romance voyage for all, full of twists and turns where literally anything goes.
The production dazzles with actors, singers and dancers from all over the Chicago area including Anthony Irsuto, 17, of Roselle, and Carson Walker, 14, of Palatine as “Public Enemy No. 1,” Moonface Nelson. Moonface’s sidekick Bonnie is played by Lea Cartina, 19, of Wood Dale, and Hannah Lullo, 15, of Roselle. Rounding out leads is Katie Jackovin, 15, of Bartlett, and Antoinette Ricchio, 16, of Roselle, who share the role of the wealthy Mrs. Harcourt, Hope’s mother.
The production is lead by producers Carol Lynch and Kerrie Noah, directors/choreographers, Colleen Lynch and Danielle Zyrkowski, and music director John Hacker.
The cast of more than 70 performers ranging from 8 to 21 years of age have been rehearsing since October preparing for this musical revival featuring such Cole Porter hits as “You’re The Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Blow Gabriel Blow” and “Anything Goes.”
Now in its 17th season, Schaumburg On Stage, is a not-for profit educational musical theater company for students ages 8 to 21. Directors/choreographers Colleen Lynch and Danielle Zyrkowski, local teachers who graduated from Conant High School, have done community theater professional musical theater in Chicago and New York.
