County fair's Education Day provides all sorts of lessons

It was Education Day at the DuPage County Fair Thursday and visitors at the Wheaton fairgrounds had the chance to learn all sorts of lessons.

They could, for example, pick up pointers on judging farm animals such as dairy goats and swine. Or learn about ways to attract Monarch butterflies to their gardens. Or get tips on how the acrobats of Cirque Zuma Zuma balance on top of a bunch of chairs without falling on their heads.

If fair fans were paying attention, they also could collect tips on how to race donkeys, handle birds of prey or even churn butter.

But here's maybe the most important thing they could learn: the fair - complete with carnival rides, plenty of food and a wide assortment of shows and attractions including a rodeo on Saturday and a demolition derby on Sunday - continues from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. through Sunday at the fairgrounds at 2015 Manchester Road. Tickets are $10 for adults and $4 for kids ages 3 through 12.
