Island Lake woman dies from injuries suffered in Lake Zurich crash

A woman hurt in a crash last week on Rand Road in Lake Zurich has died from her injuries, officials said.

Myrna Morris, 67, of Island Lake died from her injuries Wednesday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Lake Zurich police said the crash involving Morris occurred about 10:05 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at Rand and Rugby roads. A 31-year-old Gurnee man was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro south on Rand when he struck Morris' 2014 Honda Civic as she was exiting a driveway from Kohl's department store, police said.

Morris was attempting to drive from the store onto northbound Rand Road, police said. The fatal crash remains under investigation.

Authorities said the Gurnee man was treated for injuries at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Lake Barrington and was released. Morris initially was taken to Good Shepherd but was transferred to Lutheran General.
