Decorate Jack-o'-lanterns at the Schaumburg Park District

Learn about the tradition of Jack-o-lanterns and create your own from 10:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, Oct. 12, at Spring Valley, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

Dress up your Jack-o'-lantern with a closet full of nature. Search Spring Valley for the perfect acorn eyes, leaf hair and other natural decorations to give your pumpkin a different look.

"Spring Valley is the perfect place to get ready for fall, and what better way to get in the spirit than to decorate a Jack-o-lantern," said Mary Rice, Schaumburg Park District education coordinator.

This event is for ages 6 to 12. Cost is $6 for residents and $9 for nonresidents. Dress accordingly, as participants will go on a nature walk throughout the grounds to collect materials to decorate Jack.
