Harper College offers tips on energy-efficient homes
Harper College is inviting the public to attend a free lunch program entitled "Whole Home Efficiency: Ways to Save Energy and Money" that will help teach attendees how to have more energy-efficient homes.
The program, part of Harper's "Live Green, Eat Fresh" series, will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, in the Avanté Center, Room Z119, on the college's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.
Elizabeth Corrado of Elevate Energy, a nonprofit organization that designs and implements energy efficiency programs, will discuss how the new smart grid and a home's smart meter can benefit consumers.
"One of the greatest things about sustainability is that it is much more than just environmental," said Amy Bandman, Harper's sustainability coordinator. "Through campus sustainability and events like this, Harper is helping to promote healthy lifestyles and spread the word that it really is the little things that make a big difference in the health of the planet, your family and your wallet."
Lunch will be provided, but guests are asked to bring their own beverage. RSVP by Friday, July 17, by contacting Amy Bandman at (847) 925-6000 ext. 2603 or abandman@harpercollege.edu.
