NMGC Voices of Hope 2015 Concert Features Popular Songs of Inspiration

For its annual spring concert, The Naperville Men's Glee Club (NMGC) features a reprise of the highly successful “NMGC Voices of Hope” chorus, consisting of 100+ local men and women united by their personal experiences with cancer. Organized by the Glee Club in February, “NMGC Voices of Hope 2015” will perform at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at Wentz Concert Hall, on the campus of North Central College, Naperville. NMGC Conductor, Bonnie Klee Roberts, and Assistant Conductor, Steven Schroeder, Jr., will direct the chorus in an inspiring, entertaining selection of pop songs, blues, Broadway hits, movie tunes, and gospel music such as "God Bless the Child", “Climb Every Mountain", and Martina McBride's "Anyway". The Glee Club and Silver Lining will also perform.

In addition to the performance, the lobby of Wentz Concert Hall will display the “Lilly Oncology on Canvas: Expressions of a Cancer Journey” art exhibit. Loaned by Lilly Oncology and The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, this traveling art show features paintings by cancer patients and caregivers which portray their cancer experience.

Advance purchase concert tickets may be purchased at napervillemensgleeclub.org for: $18 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for students. Group rates for ten or more are available by calling 630-448-0518. Advance purchase is recommended and a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door prior to the concert. Cancer survivors may register now at napervillemensgleeclub.org to receive a complimentary concert ticket, courtesy of the DuPage Foundation. The complimentary tickets will be available for pick-up in the lobby one hour before the concert.

In designing the project, Artistic Director Roberts commented, "The purpose of Voices of Hope is to gather people who have, or have had, a role in the fight against cancer and to provide an opportunity for them to feel the inspiration, thrill, and deep affection for life that comes through singing. It’s the opportunity for the Glee Club to say 'Thank You!' for over 25 years of community support and to share the fellowship that comes from rehearsals. The concert is not intended to be a fundraiser for cancer."

“NMGC Voices of Hope” is supported in part by the City of Naperville SECA Fund, the Illinois Arts Council, the DuPage Foundation, and Genentech.
