Make traditional Native American toys at the Schaumburg Park District
Create your very own Native American corn husk doll at the Spring Valley Nature Center.
Discover the history and myths behind the Native American toy with the Schaumburg Park District 10-11 a.m., Nov. 9 at Spring Valley Nature Center, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.
"History suggests there are a few myths surrounding corn husk dolls. We will read about and explore the history of the dolls and discuss whether the myths are true," said Lauren Podgorski, environment educator at Spring Valley Nature Center.
Participants will make their own corn husk doll and receive directions on how to make dolls at home.
This program is for ages 5 to 7. Cost for residents is $5. Non-resident cost is $7.
