Vote for a real servant of the people
Larry Kaifesh's half-page ad in the Daily Herald on Sept. 21 encourages veterans to endorse Kaifesh over Rep. Tammy Duckworth. He then lists right-wing super PACs that have "veteran" in their name: the National Defense PAC, a 527 which cannot endorse any candidate; and the Guardian Fund PAC founded by Allen West, who had to resign from the Army to avoid a court martial. Kaifesh shows himself in uniform - but not Lt. Col. Tammy Duckworth in hers - with a disclaimer, in very small print, that use of military rank, job titles and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the Marine Corps, Department of the Navy or Department of Defense.
His ad is outrageous and offensive. Lt. Col. Duckworth is an Iraq War hero. She served as a U.S. Army helicopter pilot and suffered severe combat wounds, losing both of her legs and damaging her right arm. She was the first female double amputee from the war. She serves her constituents: women, middle class families, veterans and members of the military, small business owners and the disabled. She brought money back to us taxpayers, works to cut waste and fraud in government, promotes job creation, and she makes herself available to her constituents.
I don't want someone who spends lots of money on spreading misinformation and downright lies to get elected. I don't want a self-proclaimed "selfless servant." I want a real hero and servant of the people like Tammy Duckworth.
