Lisle Lions are Proud to be Pink

A sea of PINK filled the Lisle High School gym in support of two important things: Lady Lions Volleyball and the fight against breast cancer.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the eighth annual Volley for the Cure event was held in the Lisle High School gym on October 6th. Lisle athletes, parents and coaches worked together to raise awareness of the disease as well as give back to the community where so many men and women have been touched by cancer, especially breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second-most common cancer and the most common cancer to impact women's health across the world. In 2015, it is estimated that approximately 231,840 cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. alone. (komen.org)

While not all the Lady Lions teams came away with a volleyball victory against the Coal City Coalers, everyone came away a winner having contributed to work of the Susan G. Komen Foundation. The Lisle community rallied to support the cause by buying Volley for the Cure t-shirts, participating in a bake sale, basket raffle, 50/50 raffle, serving contest and by donating money…ultimately setting an event fundraising record of $3,895!

Thank you to the Lisle community and all the fans who came out in support of Volley for the Cure!
