Winfield ready to celebrate Good Old Days

Crews were working Wednesday to set up the grounds for Winfield's annual Good Old Days celebration, which officially opens Friday evening and runs through Sunday near Church Street and Beecher Avenue.

Admission to the end-of-summer celebration is free, and visitors can expect plenty of music from local bands along with food, games, rides, contests - including meatball-eating and shoe-kicking - and even a Sunday parade.

The fest actually opens Thursday with an outdoor scholarship fundraising dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. The celebration really gets rolling from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
