Blackhawks' GM Bowman to help direct World Cup team

Blackhawks vice president and general manager Stan Bowman and the Edmonton Oilers' Peter Chiarelli were named as managers of Team North America for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey. Chiarelli is the Oilers' President of Hockey Operations and GM.

Chiarelli and Bowman will select the playing roster, coaching and support staff and oversee all tournament preparations and management of the team. The team will include the top players from Canada and the United States who are under 23 as of Oct. 1, 2016.

The World Cup of Hockey will take place in Toronto in September 2016. Eight teams will compete for the championship.
