Truck driver, 50, dies after hitting tree in Warrenville

The driver of a cement truck who died after crashing into a tree in Warrenville Friday afternoon has been identified as a 50-year-old man from Earlville, Illinois, authorities said.

Jon Swanson was driving the commercial truck north on Winfield Road, then crossed over into southbound lanes and struck the tree near Greenview Avenue, according to police and the DuPage County coroner's office.

Police believe Swanson had a medical emergency and lost control of the truck. He was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, where he was pronounced dead.

The coroner's office was conducting an autopsy on the man Saturday. Earlville is about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.
