Alpha Nu chapter donates sensory room equipment for District 70 students
The Alpha Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Illinois State Organization was awarded a stipend by the Lambda State Foundation for Educational Studies Inc. for the purchase of sensory processing equipment and supports for Libertyville District 70 students.
D70 instructional coach Danya Sundh and the D70 Occupational Therapy team have already put the equipment - including therapy balls, mats, floor sensory tiles, weighted lap blankets and wiggle chairs - to good use.
A new Sensory Room is being created at Butterfield School, and the other four schools in the district have received equipment for their spaces as well. These materials are available to all of the students in D70.
"(The Butterfield Sensory Room) will be a space where students eagerly engage with the tools provided," Danya said. "Their enthusiasm and positive reactions as the new items arrive are a testament to the impact this space will have on their learning and well-being."
The D70 staff and administration, along with the Alpha Nu Chapter, thank the foundation for their generosity.
