Lisle Lions Club Announces Collegiate Scholarship Recipients

As part of an ongoing commitment to support education and community service, the Lisle Lions Club Educational Foundation received thirty-four (34) scholarship applications from senior high school students living in the 60532 area zip code. Applications were received from Lisle students attending Marmion Academy, Benet Academy, Downers Grove North, Naperville North and Lisle Senior High Schools. Two collegiate scholarships are awarded, each with a value of $500. Each scholarship can be renewed for three additional years for a total value of $2,000.00 over four years.

Selections are based on Leadership Qualities; Academic Potential, Career Aspirations, Community Participation and Financial Need. Selections were made by the Lisle Lions Club Educational Foundation Committee. This year's recipients were announced during Lisle Senior High School's Honors Night activities. This year's recipients are: Jefferson Y. Chan, who will be attending the University of Wisconsin Chemical Engineering College and Scott Provenzano, who will be attending the University of Illinois Business College.

Scholarship renewals for the 2013-14 College Year were provided to six Lisle students; Tijana Popovic and Grant Fitzgerald from the 2011 graduating class; Jake Haseltine and Ryan Twaddle from the 2012 graduating class; and Joshua Haseltine and Christine Young from the 2013 graduating class. All are continuing their education at universities of their choice. The total amount of scholarships provided by the Lisle Lions Club annually is in excess of $4,000.

The Lisle Lions Club Educational Foundation is a 501 (c)3 organization, therefore, your donations are tax deductible and 100% of all funds received will be used for Senior High School Scholarships for students living in the 60532 zip code. The Lisle Lions Club is also pleased to announce recipients of the 2014 Eighth Grade Achievement Awards: From St. Joan of Arc Junior High School, Dan Igoe and Bridget Zurek and from Lisle Junior High School, Emily Baur and Anthony Aguilar. Achievement Award Guidelines are: 1) Be a Good student (works to his/her best ability), 2) Be involved in extracurricular school activities (Band, clubs, sports), 3) Be a good class citizen (gets along well with others and goes 'the extra mile' to help others), and 4) Be involved in family and community activities.

Selections are made by a committee of St. Joan and Lisle Junior High School teachers and administrators.

Funds for these two awards are generated, by each of you, when you play "Bingo" at our facility in Bolingbrook, when you purchase a Christmas Tree from the Lisle Lions Club in December, or when you attend the "Eyes To The Skies Festival" in July. Thank you for your support.
