Catch U.S.A. World Cup match at Streamwood viewing party

The Streamwood Park District is hosting a free World Cup viewing party at Hoosier Grove Park on Thursday morning, June 26.

"Our staff is planning to have fun soccer drills and games for kids of all ages on the soccer fields before the game," said athletic manager, Jake Larson, who is overseeing the event.

"We feel that this event will help unite the community's love and support of 'the beautiful game' and the U.S. Men's National Team, while also introducing soccer to the casual and not-so casual fan to the sport, so that the next generation of soccer players can understand the importance of the U.S. Men's National Team's participation and success at such a grand stage as the World Cup. And also having some fun along the way," said Jerzy Skowron, Streamwood Park District graphic artist and volunteer soccer coach.

Activities will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. with the viewing of the game starting at 11 a.m. Some of the other activities will include the moonwalk jump and a Dunk Tank for $1. Once the game begins, there will be paid concessions available, and free raffle prizes will be given away at halftime. In case of rain or extreme heat the Hoosier Grove Barn will be showing the game inside.
