Winfield roads opened after earlier gas leak

A gas leak at Hawthorne Lane and County Farm Road in Winfield closed both roads for several hours on Thursday, but the roads opened again around 8:40 p.m., police said.

NICOR spokeswoman Jae Miller said crews were repairing a 2-inch steel gas main struck earlier in the afternoon.
