TCD students to honor victims of Sept. 11 attacks

The high school juniors and seniors in the Criminal Justice and Fire Science programs at Technology Center of DuPage today will honor the civilians and public safety professionals killed in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Ceremonies lasting about 30 minutes will begin at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the flagpole at the TCD building, 301 S. Swift Road, Addison. In severe weather, the ceremonies will move indoors.

Students dressed in their program uniforms will stand in formation in front while selected classmates do a short reading and place flowers at the base of the flagpole.

The ceremonies also will honor two TCD alumni killed while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan: culinary student Sean Cardelli of Lisle ('04) and fire science student Samuel Watts of Wheaton ('10). In 2009, Watts participated in the ceremony, laying flowers at the flagpole.

Technology Center of DuPage is the advanced career and technical education campus for all high schools in DuPage County and Lyons Township.
