Garrett's opens popcorn shop in Woodfield

The much-anticipated Garrett Popcorn Shops location at Schaumburg's Woodfield Mall opened at 8 a.m. Friday to greet Black Friday shoppers.

Though kept under wraps until late last week, the popular snack shop's first suburban store is in Woodfield's Grand Court near Macy's.

Though the introduction of several new products was originally intended to accompany Friday's grand opening, company representatives said high demand for Garrett's core products during the holidays is causing the new items to be briefly postponed.

Founded in Chicago in 1949, Garrett Popcorn Shops now has 12 locations in the city, including two at O'Hare International Airport, and only the single suburban store at Woodfield.
