Local Elected Officials Help TMA Open New Headquarters
The Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois (TMA) last week welcomed more than 200 people to an open house and grand opening of their new headquarters in Schaumburg. Flanked by TMA board members and several local elected officials, Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson cut the ribbon celebrating the official opening of TMA's new home and manufacturing training facility. TMA recently moved to Schaumburg from Park Ridge. "It's great to have TMA here in Schaumburg, " stated Mayor Larson. "We have perhaps the second most manufacturing companies in the region behind our neighbors in Elk Grove Village," he added.
Joining Mayor Larson were Hanover Park Mayor Rod Craig, who chairs TMA's Mayors For Manufacturing Caucus, Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod, Addison Mayor Richard Veenstra and Schaumburg Trustee Frank Kozak. Several TMA Board Members were in attendance including TMA Chairman Fernando Ortiz, Jr. "TMA is all about training the next generation of workers for the manufacturing industry," said Mr. Ortiz. "The fact that we can do a lot of that training right here at our headquarters along with providing administrative support for our members is a huge plus," he concluded.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, attendees were given tours of the facility, which, in addition to hands on training machinery, includes classrooms, office space, meeting rooms and public reception space. The new headquarters is more than double the size of TMA's previous headquarters. "Our association is on an upward growth path and this great new headquarters will allow us to continue to provide top notch service to our members, their employees and potential employees that are looking for a career in today's modern manufacturing," stated TMA Vice Chair Jim Carr.
About TMA: 8 small manufacturing companies who thought they could better themselves by associating with one another founded TMA in 1925. Through the years, members established programs and services to help their businesses grow and prosper, train their employees, and provide medical and retirement benefits. TMA has grown into an almost 1,000 member not-for-profit organization representing more than 30,000 employees of precision manufacturing and supplier companies throughout Illinois.
