Wheaton Chamber honors 11 volunteers for service

The Wheaton Chamber of Commerce recently honored 11 volunteers for their contributions to the community. Here's a quick look:

• The True Blue Award went to Cantigny Park & Cantigny Golf for its support and contribution of resources to enhance and benefit the entire chamber.

• The Rookie of the Year Award went to Avenue Bank, recognizing its outstanding involvement in chamber activities as a new member.

• The Continuing Commitment Award went to Northwestern Medicine at Central DuPage Hospital to recognize committed service to the chamber over the years.

• The Volunteer of the Year Award went to Glenn Keller of Kitchen Tune-Up to recognize his leadership in chamber projects and involvement in the betterment of the chamber community.

Also recognized was Karen Bagge for her service to many committees at the chamber, most notably, the Nonprofit Network.

• The Visionary Award went to Erica Loiacono of Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200, whose ideas led to a more collaborative place.

• The Exceptional Engagement Award recognizes both a large business and a small business for their participation in chamber events through sponsorship and attendance, participation in chamber programs and committees, and use of Wheaton Chamber online and marketing opportunities.

The large business recipient was Wheaton Bank & Trust Co., and the small business award went to Paula Barrington of the Downtown Wheaton Association.

• The Ambassador Club is the public relations arm of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce. This year the club recognized one of its own - Kerry O'Brien - for her leadership.

• The Ron Brinkman Award went to Ron Austin for his service to the community through donations of time and effort.

• The Executive Award went to Betsy Adamowski of the Wheaton Public Library for her leadership and development abilities and inspires other members with a vision of the chamber at its best.

• The President's Award of Excellence is chosen exclusively by the president of the board and is presented to an individual in appreciation for service and support to the chairman. The recipient was Steve Johnson of Langhenry, Lundquist, Gillen & Johnson.

An additional special recognition was made by State Rep. Jeanne Ives, who presented the House Resolution honoring the Carlson Family for 100 years to their family-owned, four-generation business, Carlson Paint, Glass & Art Stores, Inc.
