Register to Ring lets you sign up online for annual Christmas campaign
The holidays are fast approaching and now is the time when many make plans to help those who are less fortunate.
The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division is launching an exciting online initiative that will make it easier than ever for people and companies across Fox Valley to give back during the annual Christmas campaign.
The Register to Ring program allows prospective volunteers to go online to RegisterToRing.com and choose the locations, dates and times that they wish to volunteer to ring bells. Volunteers can register as an individual, a family, office or group. The system will also generate automatic email confirmations and reminders. This year, volunteers will be ringing bells at more than 100 locations in the Fox Valley area including Kane and Kendall counties from Nov. 13 through Christmas Eve (excluding Thanksgiving Day and Sundays).
"This exciting new program will not only raise awareness of the opportunity to ring bells, it gives volunteers more choices and more control of the process," said Divisional Commander Lt. Colonel Charles Smith. "We anticipate a dramatic increase in the numbers of volunteers ringing bells this holiday season. We are excited about how this new program will engage more individuals, families, church groups and service organizations to ring bells with us."
The money collected during the annual Christmas campaign will support Salvation Army programs at the local units for the entire year. These programs include emergency rent and utility assistance, youth and senior programs and disaster response.
For more information, to donate or to volunteer to be a Salvation Army bell ringer, individuals can sign up online at www.registertoring.com or call the following local units for assistance: Aurora Corps at (630) 897-7265; Elgin Corps at (847) 741-2304; or St. Charles Tri-City Corps at (630) 377-2769.
