Annual CBAI Scholarship Applications Available at The Peoples' Bank

The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights will once again offer local high school seniors the opportunity to enter the state-wide Community Bankers Association of Illinois (CBAI) Foundation scholarship contest. Applications are available at either Peoples' Bank location (41 South Vail Avenue or 1104 South Arlington Heights Road) and must be submitted before February 2nd, 2015.

Now in its 29th year, the CBAI Scholarship Contest provides $1,000 scholarships to winners from 13 regions around the state and an additional $500 scholarship to a runner-up from each region. One overall winner will be eligible to have their $1,000 award renewed each year for up to four years. In the past, several winners have been chosen from among applications submitted through The Peoples' Bank.

Open to high school seniors in the surrounding communities, the CBAI contest requires an application form and a brief essay on The Importance of Community Banking. Applications and entry packets may be picked up from Harland Krebel, Jr., Retail Banking Officer at The Peoples' Bank at the 1104 South Arlington Heights Road location. Completed forms and essays are to be returned to Krebel prior to the deadline to be eligible. The bank is limited to submitting three selections for the statewide evaluation.

"We always look forward to this experience," said Krebel. "The contest provides a great opportunity for local high school seniors to gain some college funding and to get exposure to the role a community bank plays in their town. We hope to submit some worthy candidates and have the chance for a local student to once again receive one of these scholarships."
